Remember that time when your union EAP called you while you were experiencing an awful bout of depression and tried to sell you on “five free EAP sessions”? Or what about when he tried to persuade you to enter a drug and alcohol program to deal with your depression? And when that didn’t work, he mansplained how you could lose your job if you refused to enter “the program”. That’s the old union EAP playbook. We call it the “square peg, round hole” approach. It’s more common than you know.

To be honest, this is what union EAPs (employee assistance professionals) have been pedaling for years. Why? Because they have one business relationship with one “so-called treatment provider” in South Florida. And that provider? Well, they only take cases involving drugs and alcohol, no mental health. At Union First, we’re here to disrupt the old way of doing things.

How do we do that?

For starters, Union First is an employee assistance service, not a provider. We’re a network, a platform for union members and their families to seek support and find comfort when they are facing life’s greatest challenges. Second, we provide job protection and behavioral health services; one works in tandem with the others. Our #1 job is to protect yours.

Third, we cover every part of the behavioral health spectrum – from eating disorders to addiction, from alcoholism to depression and everything in between. We don’t have one relationship with one provider. We have a national network that we built over the past two and a half years.

Union First isn’t just who we are; it’s what we do.
