Services

“Service” itself is at the very core of what we do. Providing resources, expertise, and action to and for union members are the expressions of our commitment.

At Union First(™), we are constantly retooling and refining our offerings and tools to members. This will never change.

Our current suite of services is based upon union member needs, best practices, and experience.

No one wants to be treated like a number.

Every step of the way, we guide you through the process, answering every question, covering every detail, and offering the utmost amount of care. Identifying the right facility to seek help can be overwhelming; it can also make all the difference.

Do they accept my insurance? Do they offer the services I require? Is there a residential component? All of these questions can discourage individuals from reaching out.

At Union First(™), we utilize a network of licensed treatment providers, including detox, residential, and intensive outpatient programs (IOPs). Each center has its own benefits and features. Our team will assess your case and make a placement recommendation based upon your individual needs.

Placement is an important step in the job protection process. Once a union member is placed into a facility, we submit a “placement in treatment” letter to the employer as part of our job protection service. This brings members one step closer to returning to work and their families.

Advocacy is tied to everything we do at Union First(™).

One in five U.S. adults experiences mental illness, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Further, one in 25 experience serious mental illness. The numbers don’t lie — there’s a significant portion of the population that has mental health needs.

When it comes to your job, there is no greater need than to have an advocate at your side. PTSD. Substance Abuse. Alcoholism. Bipolar Disorder. All of these fall under behavioral health — and they’re all covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Most union members and their families, unfortunately, are unaware of the rights afforded to them under federal law. We get it, though. We also get how to fight and utilize state and federal laws.

The passion and professionalism that the Union First(™) team brings to bear is the fuel that powers results for union members and their families. It’s what gets us up in the morning, keeps us humble, and pushes us to do more.

Being able to access a therapist during these times is critical. Identifying one who takes your insurance, offers relevant expertise, and is located within your state, can make “access” one heckuva challenge.

Union First(™) has built a hack to get around all of these roadblocks. Our private telehealth network of over 40 providers gives us the ability to quickly schedule an appointment with a counselor who meets your needs, including insurance and expertise, within 24/48 hours.

Instead of waiting weeks for an appointment, we get it down to a few days.  That’s the Union First(™) difference with our services. It’s who we are; it’s what we do.

Education is a fundamental component of our training modules. It may sound cliché – but it matters.

The Union First(™) training modules provide union leaders and their membership with the tools they need to manage a crisis, handle stress, and provide a robust employee assistance service.

Our team comes on-site to conduct these training sessions. “Informative,” “compelling,” and “eye-opening” are just some of the words that have been used to describe our program. The training is instructive, compelling and helps facilitate a conversation. A slideshow presentation, resource materials, and Q&A are included in the module.

Each training raises awareness about behavioral health, especially when it comes to identifying the signs and symptoms. Much like education, increasing awareness is central to our program’s overall success.
